By Jeff, on August 17th, 2006 Reality TV has taken a wacky turn, but I think it’s a turn for the better – at least in some ways.
I am really not a fan of Reality TV in any of its forms. I have yet to watch every episode, or even pieces of every episode of any of the mind-numbingly stupid contests set up to get people to hate each other on national television. Nor have I watched much of the . . . → Read More: Superheroes in reality (tv)
By Jeff, on August 16th, 2006 I talked about this one before, but I had to mention that I just watched a Mythbusters episode on the Discovery Channel that confirmed that impairment is at least as bad, if not worse, while driving and talking on a cell phone, as while driving drunk.
The participants/testers drove a driving course three times. Once with no distractions, once on the phone while answering questions they had to think about, and once with a blood . . . → Read More: Impairment while driving on phone > drunk driving
By Jeff, on August 13th, 2006 Sorry, all, for the lack of posts lately. There were some delays as Caddickisms moved to a new server, and I didn’t want to lose anything here or on my other site by having an outdated backup.
And while I’m talking about the “man behind the curtain,” I thought I’d take a second to plug my hosting service. HostPC.com does a wonderful, reliable, and professional job for incredibly low prices. I heartily recommend them if . . . → Read More: Server move complete
By Jeff, on August 7th, 2006 Slice of Scifi – Science Fiction TV / Movie, News, Interviews & more – Jay’s Doctor Who Update
Well, Doctor Who’s second season will air on Sci-Fi in October, as previously rumored. That’s all good news. On the other hand, the second Doctor’s debut episode, the Christmas Invasion, will be held off on Sci-Fi until the Christmas holidays.
While there is an obvious synergy in that timing, that’s really a stupid decision by the suits. . . . → Read More: Future Imperfect: Doctor Who on Sci-Fi
By Jeff, on August 5th, 2006 I finally got around to seeing Crash tonight. As you have probably heard, this is an excellent movie. A little hard to follow at times, but well worth the effort.
There is really no way to summarize this movie. There is no bad guy, no good guy (well… I’ll come back to that), no happy ending in the traditional sense, but neither is it a sad ending: life just continues with all of its problems. . . . → Read More: Review: Crash
By Jeff, on August 2nd, 2006 Aquaman has been the butt of jokes for as long as I can remember. He was never one of my favorite superheroes, but ever since I saw the character portrayed in the Justice League and JL Unlimited cartoons, I’ve begun to give him a chance (the guy had some serious attitude going for him). When he appeared in an episode of Smallville, I figured they could do a few stories about him, but I didn’t . . . → Read More: Review: Aquaman (Mercy Reef)
By Jeff, on August 1st, 2006 For me, YouTube is like walking into a hospital with no immune system. I go in with one thing and come out with a hundred others. Lucky for you, I am not going to show you everything I found, but here’s a clip from David Letterman’s show with Earl Scruggs and Steve Martin leading the “Guys with Banjos Who Know How To Use Them“.
By Jeff, on August 1st, 2006 I am receiving something via FedEx today. I just found this in the tracking log.
551 miles in 5 minutes! I don’t know of any other method of transportation that is that fast. Obviously FedEx is really investing in R&D. Very impressive.
By Jeff, on August 1st, 2006 There’s really nothing I can add to this, so without further ado… Star Wars on Banjo
By Jeff, on August 1st, 2006 SCI FI Wire | The News Service of the SCI FI Channel
Warner Brothers announced that its upcoming sequel to 2005′s hit Batman Begins will be called The Dark Knight and will feature Heath Ledger as the Joker.
I will be there. I thought Christian Bale did an utterly fantastic job as Batman in the first movie, and I can’t wait for the sequel. I’m a little worried about Heath Ledger, but I’ll wait and . . . → Read More: The Dark Knight – Batman sequel
