By Jeff, on February 15th, 2007 I just found an interesting review of estimation strategies for creating e-Learning courses.
Pete Blair has graciously posted a few free resources that could come in handy, one of which is his estimation “course” and tool (Design and Development Time Estimator). Unfortunately, the final slider in the tool doesn’t seem to effect the estimate, but it at least provides a framework for estimating for those in need. The “course” portion also reviews at a high-level . . . → Read More: Course development estimation

Ah, the days when Batman was picking up chicks in bars, while Robin watched from the car. Smooth moves, Batman… smooth moves.

Wow, what a loaded topic. The Top Ten Most Quotable Geek Films… hmmm… to be included in my list, I’d have to be able to think of at least three quotes with little to no effort. I’m not sure I could keep the list to 10. Let’s find out.
The proposed list is a start, but I gotta disagree with Superman II – . . . → Read More: The Top 10 Most Quotable Geek Films
By Jeff, on February 8th, 2007 The Webinar Blog: Cheap And Easy – Yugma Web Conferencing
More about Yugma (related post) from a blog focused on Webinars/WebConferencing. The author spent time reviewing Yugma and talking with Yugma’s COO, Karl Lukas, about the product and company.
Karel tells me that the company spent time analyzing how to meet the demands of the largest possible market for web conferencing software. They decided that the masses were calling for several features: They wanted something . . . → Read More: Yugma Conferencing – tough to beat free

By Jeff, on February 8th, 2007 Why Collaborative Storyboard Technology Is Mission Critical
This is an excellent article extolling the virtues of collaboration for storyboarding your courses (and a little push for storyboarding itself). It doesn’t specifically promote a single commercial product, though it does highlight XStream Software’s tool at the end, but rather focuses on the generic benefits of collaboration in the Instructional Designer/Subject Matter Expert interaction.
I’m an easy sell for this kind of thing, but it certainly sold . . . → Read More: Collaborative Storyboarding
By Jeff, on February 8th, 2007 Okay, the term “Web 2.0″ is utterly useless, but you gotta admit, there’s some cool stuff out there.

For example, searching that site for “[tag]webconferencing[/tag]” got me to Yugma – which is a . . . → Read More: Web 2.0 applications / free conferencing

By Jeff, on February 1st, 2007 Will at Work Learning: Take the Original Learning Research Quiz
I took this quiz a couple of years ago after seeing Dr. Thalheimer at an e-Learning Guild event. I thought I was doing pretty good until I got the feedback. I just took it again. I did a little better, but not as good as I thought I would.
The good news? I’m not really an instructional designer. The bad news? I do work in . . . → Read More: Instructional Designers: do you know what you think you know?
