Jon! YOU? You wound me... not much of a Trek fan? I've always assumed you were into it for some reason... hmm... well, maybe this'll pull you in to the fold. ;)

Sooner or later, Star Trek will get you.

Yeah. A bit. He's the guy that scares me at these things. ;)

The only time I accept costumes are at conventions, and if you sit outside the theater overnight to get tickets. I've done that once in my life, for Star Wars Episode 1, and you just gotta expect the costumes there.

Yeah, this is really a reboot, not a continuation or even a "prequel" so much. The Bond comparison is really a good one.

Star Trek has always been a mix of cerebral with action. The Kirk era (TOS) was heavier on the action while the Picard era (TNG) was generally heavier on the cerebral. It appears that they're kicking up the action even farther on this. Hopefully it's not at the expense of the cerebral.

heh... I had to try really hard to not deconstruct the trailer like you're doing. It being really late when I started helped. ;)

Yeah, that joystick actually gave me physical pain. I'll grant you that one. What the heck were they thinking? I don't even see how that sounded cool on paper... I liked the rest of the film though.

I've still to see the last trek film but going on everything I've seen on the new one it's lost the look and feel of the older movies. I'm not sure thats a good thing but if James Bond can do it I've no doubt Trek can as well.

I've never been the biggest star trek - I've seen it now and again, but haven't really got too involved in it. I might watch this though, as it looks quite promising. I'm sure I won't get all the subtle references and things, but thats ok :) lol!

I'm not offended by either Nemesis or Insurrection, Insurrection is basically a long episode with one or two cringe worthy lines (Troi discussing her breasts being one and a lot of singing being the other) but overall it is entertaining enough until Riker goes all Microsoft Sidewinder on us which again is probably a scene that sounds really cool on paper.

Nemesis really cops it though, I don't think it was that bad, sure there are qualities that let it down such as a poor villain and what didn't really feel like much of a threat but Data's death was handled really well and it was nice knowing that the characters were moving on to other things.

I'm sick of fan-boy self loathing, they were moaning about this film when the very first teaser poster came out. I hope this film does really well and brings on a new group of fans who just want to enjoy Trek and not nit pick it to death. (says I who had to break his analysis of the trailer into multiple parts LOL)
