So here we are at the end of another year. What did we accomplish? Well, we aren't dead. So we got that going for us. Which is nice. To be sure, stuffState of the House Report 2011

Argh. I mentioned before that my site theme settings suddenly changed. Today I tried to fix it by upgrading to the latest version of WordPress. I was pretty sure thatSite maintenance

Andre Agassi began the end of his professional tennis career tonight with a great match vs. Andrei Pavel. Like many people, I've been watching Andre Agassi for almost his entire career.Agassi's last first round win

(Originally posted Aug 06, 2005 on my older blog) Sci-fi western with an attitude, and a healthy dose of mystery and character building. I am catching Firefly on DVD. I didn't watchReview: Firefly

YouTube - Torchwood - First proper trailer Someone has posted a preview trailer for Torchwood, the Dr. Who spinoff series. It's basically a character list and some special effects, but ITorchwood trailer

This wasn't nearly as bad as the box office, and critics, led me to believe. Was it as good as "The Mask of Zorro"? No. Not really. But it was aReview: The Legend of Zorro

(Yeah, I know I'm months behind 90% of the free world in seeing this one...) Okay, obviously from the trailers the special effects on this movie were going to be top-notch.Review: Transformers

Okay, I've been remiss in getting the Doctor Who news out lately. 'Cause I know you all depend on me alone to let you know what's going on with thatDoctor Who/Torchwood news

I absolutely LOVE this story. On Monday night, a fan at a Phillies game ran onto the field during the game. Not an unheard of event. This is the first timePhiladelphia: City of Brotherly Tasering

I don't have a pet. Dog, cat, fish, bird, rock... nothing. That's not likely to change in the next 5-7 years, if ever. There are lots of reasons, actually, butWhy I don't have a dog

Finding Neverland wasn't boisterous, or exhuberantly full of wonder. It was, if anything, understated and simple in its execution. Despite the drama of a crumbling marriage, oppression, depression, and death,Review: Finding Neverland

First of all, I have to say how shocked I am that I'm mentioning this before Lee. Somebody must have him locked in a very nasty dungeon. Good luck withIron Man 2 trailer released

There are some out there who would call this "weak 3" of the show. This is definitely the slowest pacing of a Stargate series yet. The premiere was good, butStargate Universe, week 3, Darkness

Well, the 15,000th version of Star Wars is coming out on Blu-ray soon. I'll give Lucas a lot of credit. The man is a genius at marketing. He must have aStar Wars... they did it again!

Webisodes and commercials

To get us through the winter repeats, some shows are giving us webisodes. That includes Battlestar Galactica and Heroes.

In both cases, the short series are meant to provide a lead-in to the new episodes, now still a month away.

Heroes picks up during the final moments of the “Villains” finale and focuses on one of the recruits for the injection program:

Battlestar Galactica‘s offering seems to be following Felix Gaeta on a somewhat doomed trip.

And then there are shows that don’t give us full stories, but keep releasing new commercials to tantalize us. Smallville has just released a good overview of the second half of what will likely be its final season (though we’ve been saying that for two or three years now).

The surprise for me? The Legion of Super-heroes. I didn’t think they’d do that. Isn’t Kara supposed to be one of them? I didn’t see her in the group. Maybe I’m getting my Super-groups confused. Oh, and it looks like Lana is back for a least a couple more episodes. Oh well. At least she’s a bit more interesting these days. She apparently went to action hero school while she was gone.

All in all… looking forward to all three of these series to return.
