Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I haven’t read the books. In general I’ve tried to avoid reviews and other spoilers for the film (though I did get spoiled for the ultra-major event, annoyingly). I’ve heard a lot of people say this was the best Potter film yet. They lauded the admirable job condensing the plot from the book into a 2.5 hour film. They loved the more mature (but not too mature) dealing . . . → Read More: Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Grab your 15 seconds of fame!

We’ve all wanted to take part in a big-budget movie, right? Sure we have. And now you have the opportunity to do just that! Sort of.

The movie is Star Wars. You know… Episode IV… A New Hope… the original… Star Wars. Yeah, that’s right. You get to be in Star Wars. Pretty cool, huh!?

Here’s the catch – you have to choose one 15 segment, and you have to film it yourself.

That’s right, . . . → Read More: Grab your 15 seconds of fame!

Tron: Legacy trailer from Comic-Con – Tuesday TubeWatch

I heard about a Tron sequel a long time ago, but haven’t heard much about it since and forgot that it was in the works. I’m not sure how I feel about it now.

I loved the original Tron. It was fun, colorful, ground-breaking, and exciting. It had a lot of in-jokes for the geeks about computers, but it was still accessible to the average joe in a world where personal computing still hadn’t exploded. . . . → Read More: Tron: Legacy trailer from Comic-Con – Tuesday TubeWatch

The Doctor is all wet… on Mars – Tuesday TubeWatch

On the heels of the success of Torchwood: Children of Earth, the following clip has been released for the next Doctor Who special:

The companion here is Adelaide, played by Lindsay Duncan. The notes on her is that she is the very strong-minded head of Mars Base, and is not too happy about the Doctor’s interference.

This special is set to air in November. My guess would be around Thanksgiving, but as that’s not . . . → Read More: The Doctor is all wet… on Mars – Tuesday TubeWatch

Torchwood: Children of Earth – Review

Gwen and Rhys Cooper saving children from the military

Russell T. Davies has a knack with stories. He’s very good at writing stories that – despite plot holes and cliches – have much emotional impact. I’m sure that with time I’ll look back at this mini-series with a more critical eye to the technicalities of plot, but right now, 10 minutes after the credits rolled, just about all I can say is this: as . . . → Read More: Torchwood: Children of Earth – Review

Google Wave – abridged

In general, as most people know, Google builds some pretty good apps, and they’re mostly built with collaboration and ease-of-use in mind. As someone whose job involves figuring out how to distribute and manage targeted information and communication efficiently, I really appreciate their work. Sadly, most of the time I can’t use it with my target population, but what they do raises the bar for the applications I do work with and sometimes the features . . . → Read More: Google Wave – abridged

What do Bruce Campbell and the Olympics have in common? – Tuesday TubeWatch

I knew that I knew it from somewhere. It sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it. Now I know. The Olympics stole their theme song from the opening credits of one of my favorite too-quickly-cancelled shows.

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. had much in common with another favorite western of mine, Wild, Wild West (not to be confused with the unfortunate movie reboot version). Bruce Campbell brought his trademark snarkiness to Brisco and . . . → Read More: What do Bruce Campbell and the Olympics have in common? – Tuesday TubeWatch
