Grab your 15 seconds of fame!
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009We’ve all wanted to take part in a big-budget movie, right? Sure we have. And now you have the opportunity to do just that! Sort of.
The movie is Star Wars. You know… Episode IV… A New Hope… the original… Star Wars. Yeah, that’s right. You get to be in Star Wars. Pretty cool, huh!?
Here’s the catch – you have to choose one 15 segment, and you have to film it yourself.
That’s right, someone got the bright idea to recreate Star Wars in 15 second increments as a social networking activity. It’s called Star Wars Uncut. He’s doling out the segments and once you get one you have 30 days to turn in your submission. You can do it as live action, animation, claymation, sock puppetry… whatever you got, as long as you turn it in within 30 days.
At the end, he’s going to stitch it all together into one … uh… seamless-ish … whole. If nothing else, it should be interesting.
Of the segments submitted so far, this one is my favorite live action ‘faithful re-creation’:
Star Wars Uncut – Scene 369 from Blake Whitman on Vimeo.
And this is my favorite… original idea:
Star Wars Uncut – Scene 094 from Rob Currie on Vimeo.
You’re allowed to get up to three of the 473 segments, so if you’re productive and entertaining you can have up to 45 seconds of fame!
So what are you waiting for?! Get out there and clean off your video camera, grab a bedsheet, claim a scene, and get cracking!
