Flashing Forward to Fall TV

The fall TV season is upon us. Are there any shows out there worthy of watching this year? Any guilty pleasures you’ve just gotta have? Anything that just drains the life out of you but you used to love it and can’t give it up?

I used to watch much more television than I do now. I watched sit-coms, cartoons, dramas… anything but reality TV. Now I’m even avoiding shows that I would probably like because I don’t have the time (I’m looking at you, “Lost”).

So here are my picks (and their premier dates) for what TV shows I’m gonna spend my time on this season. Some are good, some are guilty pleasures, and some I just keep hoping will regain their former glory.

That’s it. Turns out they’re all Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Not a huge shock, though it wasn’t always this way. I used to be devoted to Law and Order, for example. Now I’ll catch it when I can, as well as NCIS and House.

What are you looking forward to?

Thinking about fall TV would entail acknowledging that it is nearly fall…and I’m not ready to do that yet.

That’s okay. Get back to me when you realize it’s September, and not only is it nearly fall, there’s only 3 more months until Christmas.

  • Well down here in New Zealand, we are like SSSOOOO far behind you guys and half the stuff doesn’t get here.

I am a HUGE NCIS and House fan, Have Seasons 1, 2 and 4 of House on DVD.

Though recently I went a step further and ordered from Amazon, as we are REALLY slow.

I am a huge Sueprnatural fan too.

Smallville is on so so late here on a Friday night I have usually fallen asleep. They mucked us around with Smallville putting it on on really random times, even 2pm in the afternoon for one of the seasons, it’s just ridiculous, so of course I have no real idea as to what has happened with some storylines.

Too, I will name drop as my mother told me the lad she nannied as a baby has just been brought onto Heroes as a script writer I think. Or producer or something or other.

Heh… that’s a pretty fun connection to Heroes.

What they’re doing to you with Smallville is what they did back in the ’90s here when Babylon 5 was on. It’s REALLY annoying. One season it was on at 2 AM. Drove me nuts. But I was very diligent with the VCR. And it was worth it.

Smallville had a weak season or two in the 6th and 7th year. 8th season was an improvement, but still didn’t quite get as good as previous years, IMO. Season 9 looks to be a good one, based on trailers. I turned a friend of mine onto the show in it’s 5th season, and he ended up watching seasons 1-4 in just a couple of weeks because it got so good. They were really good at season finales, particularly.

Why no season 3 of House?
