One or two of you may have noticed the frequency of posting here has dropped quite a bit in the last few months. I thought I’d comment on why…
It’s a combination of things, really, but the overriding factor is that I just haven’t been motivated lately (for quite a while, actually). I sit here, right now, with about 20 different topics that are worth mentioning, but nothing that I feel like taking an hour or so to write about coherently. I’m trying to start up another blog, with a more focused topic, but even there I’m having trouble getting organized and staying motivated to write, and it’s only been a few weeks.
I think Facebook has caused some of the problem, really. Over there I get to vent in short bursts through my status. That usually takes the edge off of my need to communicate. The irony is that sometimes I really want to say more than I can in a status, but still can’t get up the energy to believe anyone really cares to hear what I have to say beyond idle curiosity (if that), so I satisfy myself with the status update and see if anyone comments there (usually not). Can’t blame anyone, though… lately it’s been mostly complaining, and who wants to hear that? And even my status updates have become less frequent, really.
Anyway… for those of you who are interested, sorry there hasn’t been anything worthwhile here for a time. Hopefully whatever is sapping my will to write will relent soon.

I know exactly how you feel, I have a sneaky suspicion that Twitter is also zapping my blogging endeavours.
Also the motivation side of things can be tough if you feel like no one cares, which is why you’ve got to really blog or post for yourself or go crazy
BTW I always enjoy reading what you’ve got to say.

Yeah, I’d think Twitter would be at least as impactful on my blogging, if not worse, than Facebook. Not sure why I think that… maybe it feels more conversational?
In general I do blog for myself. I think that’s part of the problem, too. My passion for e-learning (one of the main topics that drove the creation of this blog) has dwindled significantly over the last year. Most of the cool general technology I ran across was tied to e-learning searches in one way or another, so that cuts down on the technology posting, too. That leaves parenting, sci-fi, and entertainment, mostly, and there hasn’t been anything much I’ve felt passionate about sharing there in the last month or two (there are a couple of things that have annoyed me – news on the Superman movies, for example). Maybe the upcoming TV season – Heroes starts tonight – will change that.
Thanks.

Yeah Twitter has proven to be pretty hard on it, we actually chatted about your post today on there and there are plenty of pretty awesome people feeling the same thing!
So you are not alone!

SNAP !!!!!
I am suffering blogging atrophy, and have spent more time on Facebook. Didn’t think of a correlation.
