Why Jar-Jar is the most hated character in Star Wars

The little clip shows exactly why Jar-Jar (and to some extent, the entire Phantom Menace film) is so unliked by so many. And it’s hilarious.

Skip straight to the 1:00 mark to start. You’re not missing anything but the standard film.

Star Wars, starring Benny Hill as Jar-Jar… that’s just inspired. That it works so well is proof that Lucas had lost his mind when he wrote that character.

  • I hadn’t seen that video and I have come to lay thanks at your feet for the belly laugh it gave me! I know that Lucas was obviously going for some sort of Buster Keating thing but I really wonder why these great film makers and actors (oh maybe “great” is stretching the friendship) feel the need to emulate him.

That was classic though, if I owned a cinema I would soooo splice that into the film to see how people react :)

    Jeff says:

Buster Keaton was both very inventive and incredibly gifted at physical comedy, so it doesn’t surprise me that filmmakers would want to emulate him. My problem is that it shouldn’t have been a central figure emulating him prominently throughout the entire film.

The clip here, however, is pure genius. And actually, I found it off of the disco Star Wars clip that somebody commented on on QYDJ, so thanks for that!
