By Jeff, on May 26th, 2009 I’ve posted before about the Green Lantern movie(s) in the works. No cast has been announced, no real information has come to my attention at all about the live action movie, other than it’s still on the books. However, some fan put together a pretty good trailer for what he’d like to see, using Nathan Fillion as the lead character, Hal Jordan. And you know what… it looks pretty good:

By Jeff, on April 16th, 2009 It's funnier when you hear the song.
Aquaman.
Of all the Justice League characters, he is perhaps the most ignored. The most ridiculed.
To be fair, he talks to fish. Some ridicule is to be expected. And really, put him up against Batman and Superman and something seems to be … lacking.
This is my new favorite superhero-related song (or see the YouTube version):

By Jeff, on April 14th, 2009 Okay, look, here’s the thing: Doctor Who travelling to some alternate reality where he meets Bugs Bunny would be incredibly cool in a very strange, and possibly acid-induced way. It’s not happening here. But they do show up in the same post here, so … just deal with it.
First up, Doctor Who’s second special of 2009 aired on Easter:
Honestly, it looks boring. I hate to say that, but it does. I hope . . . → Read More: Tuesday TubeWatch Two-fer! Doctor Who meets Bugs Bunny!
By Jeff, on March 24th, 2009 I thought I was done with posting about Watchmen. But then I found this:
There are a huge number of these Marvel vs. DC clips, and a lot of them are really funny.
Anyway… now I’m done posting anything Watchmen related.
By Jeff, on March 20th, 2009 My wife can’t figure out what I do online for hours at a time. I can’t blame her for being confused. Sometimes I don’t even know how so much time can go by before I get out of this chair and do something besides attempt to contract cancer from my monitor.
I thought it might be interesting to take a look at what I’ve got open in my browser right now and see if that . . . → Read More: What’s in YOUR browser?
By Jeff, on March 14th, 2009 Watchmen broke ground as a comic book/graphic novel. The movie was extremely faithful, with few exceptions, to the book. Is that a good thing?
Going in to this film, I thought, “I hope they don’t stray too far from the book.” They didn’t. There were things removed for the sake of time, but for the most part everything that was in the movie came from the book. It was probably the most faithful retelling of . . . → Read More: Review: Watchmen
By Jeff, on March 11th, 2009 I can’t wait until next Tuesday to share this one.
Does anyone else remember this Saturday morning cartoon from the late ’80s?
The best episode was the cross-over with “Josie and the Pussycats,” where Rorshach made Alexandra cry. That was classic. Sebastian totally pwnd Bubastias, though – stretched believability for me. When the two bands got together at the end, and Josie offered to let Silk Spectre join them, though, you knew everyone was . . . → Read More: TubeWatch extra: Watchmen cartoon
By Jeff, on March 6th, 2009 (Grab your pacemaker, it looks like I’m making two posts in two days! Will the madness ever end?)
A few things came to my attention today that I just couldn’t wait to pass on.
First of all, as you undoubtedly know, Watchmen opened today. No surprise there. But did you know these stats?
90% of all Fandango’s weekend ticket sales has been for Watchmen. IMAX’s website crashed four times this week due to the increased . . . → Read More: Watchmen, Star Trek, and Star Wars (sort of)
By Jeff, on March 5th, 2009 Here are a few Science Fiction/Fantasy tidbits I picked up on the smoke-signal network recently.
Like a ship wandering through the seas of Hollywood, it looked like Narnia sequel The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was going to be lost as Disney debated dropping the property after The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Prince Caspian didn’t do quite as well as they’d hoped. Well, apparently they’ve been steered to the correct port, because . . . → Read More: Sci-fi news roundup
By Jeff, on February 28th, 2009 Is Watchmen unfilmable?
I’ve seen the trailers. I’ve seen a bunch of clips. It looks good. The visuals are great. Hard to say much else about it, though, so far.
I’m also reading the book for the first time. At the moment I’m over 3/4 through it, so I don’t know the whole story, but I’ve seen a lot of it. I like the book (probably not a surprise).
Here’s the thing, though. Everyone . . . → Read More: Quick thoughts on Watchmen: unfilmable?
