By Jeff, on February 15th, 2008 My company has recently shut down all access to YouTube. I get that. I completely believe that many people are using company time and bandwidth to watch all sorts of inappropriate — or just plain time wasting — content. From a certain perspective, I can support the decision to prevent that from happening.
There is a war between those who would waste company time and resources, and those who are tasked with keeping that from . . . → Read More: I’m a casualty of war
By Jeff, on January 15th, 2008 Official Google Reader Blog: There’s a feed for that?!
I’ve never actually used Craig’s List, but the article linked above points out that you can use feeds from that site and others to help you in a job search. It also has some other uses for feed readers that may not be immediately obvious to some people.
While I don’t use Craig’s List, I do have the feed from my ASTD job search coming to . . . → Read More: Job Search via RSS
By Jeff, on November 17th, 2007 The free online conference for Corporate Learning started on Thursday (it continues next Monday and Tuesday). So far, I’ve only been able to attend two sessions, one presentation on Web/Learning 2.0, and one Q&A/Discussion session following up on that presentation, both led by Tony Karrer. Unfortunately, I missed everything on Friday. Good thing it’s all being recorded!
I thought it was really a good way to do things, though my schedule wasn’t cleared as well . . . → Read More: Links from Corporate Learning: Trends and Innovations Day 1

And it’s free. All you need to do is register.
Did I mention it’s free? Pulling these . . . → Read More: Free Online Corporate Learning Conference
By Jeff, on October 6th, 2007 Corporate eLearning Strategies and Development: eLearnDevCast New Episode with Karl Kapp – GGG4L – Recruiting Gamer Generation
I just listened to a discussion between Brent Schlenker and Dr. Karl Kapp about part of Dr. Kapp’s book (Gadgets, Games, and Gizmos for Learning) where he covers recruiting the “Gamer” generation.
There are some great takeaways from that conversation for me. For example, they were talking about how far into the future companies have to think now . . . → Read More: Corporate Gaming: Recruiting and training

By Jeff, on June 19th, 2007 In my last post, I mentioned a definition of e-Learning I wrote a few years ago. For the record, this is what I said:
How do you define e-learning? What are some examples?
My definition would be: Learning opportunities in which the learner/instructor interaction is facilitated through technology.
I would divide it into three catagories:
Self-paced Synchronous Asynchronous
Self-paced courses are probably the first ones that come to mind for most people. These could include . . . → Read More: Defining e-Learning

By Jeff, on February 23rd, 2007 I find a lot of stuff that I want to share, but that doesn’t make it into a blog post of its own, for whatever reason (usually a lack of time and/or energy).
If I’m subscribed to the feeds, those interesting posts generally make it into my Google Reader Shared Posts page (currently in the right sidebar here, though I’m going to move it to it’s own page once I figure out how to get . . . → Read More: LinkList: Sci-fi edition
By Jeff, on February 17th, 2007 Video, Music, Podcasts, Audio, and Multimedia WordPress Plugins « Lorelle on WordPress
This is a great annotated list of plug-ins for WordPress users trying to add video or audio of any sort to their blog. I wish she would have put this list out months ago – it would have saved me quite a bit of time and effort.
Now I have to go through all those options and see how I can best use . . . → Read More: Multimedia Plugins for WordPress
