An extremely long time after I started it, I just finished Ex Machina's 50 issue run. Brian K. Vaughn puts on a heck of a story. This is one of thoseThe Colors of Control: Ex Machina

That's not a euphemism. I actually felt the earth move last night. We had an 3.4 earthquake at midnight last night, with an epicenter about 5 miles from my house.I feel the earth move under my feet...

Quick, think of all those movies from the '60s. The fun ones. The ones with energy that just kept going. Fast dialogue. Bold colors. Doris Day. Frankie and Annette.Review: Down with Love

This show, loved by millions, and seen every year since it originally aired in 1965, would never be produced today in our politically correct world. It's just too controversial. This showA show too controversial to make it to production today...

I just watched Disc Three of the Crusade series, written by J. Michael Straczynski (JMS). Luckily, I was apparently watching one of the early discs produced since it had hisCrusade: What would have happened

Here's the thing about Michael Bay's Transformer films: from what I've seen, there's not much plot involved. With this new trailer I was hoping we'd get some semblance of plotNew Transformers trailer is nice but...

Yes, I know stupider isn't a word. It applies to Netflix nonetheless. I'll start this off by admitting that I don't have Netflix. I have used it at other people's housesNetflix becomes stupider, Warehouse 13 returns

Where I’ve been

It’s possible that you’ve noticed that I don’t post a lot here anymore. This blog has admittedly fallen mostly into disuse. This should not be a surprise to anyone.

It occurs to me, though, that some of you may wonder what I’m doing instead of writing blog posts. (Others of you, I’m sure, couldn’t care less. But that’s not going to stop me telling you.) So here I am, back again, to tell you what . . . → Read More: Where I’ve been

The Avengers (2012) with spoilers, and new things on the internet

You know, I was going to write a whole post about the specifics of stuff I loved about The Avengers. You’ve already seen my spoiler-free gushing (assuming you have done your homework properly). I thought about the stuff I would say – the coolness of Black Widow’s “terror” scene with the Hulk; the coolness of Banner and Hulk; the scenes that went on just a little too long, like the argument on the helicarrier; Coulson’s . . . → Read More: The Avengers (2012) with spoilers, and new things on the internet

I got up this morning and read an email that referred to a comment made on Twitter… that’s a Tweet, for those who’ve been under a technological rock for the past few years.

I don’t really know why I did it, but I went out and created a Twitter account (@caddickisms, if you’re curious). I’m now “following” a couple of people and a few celebrities. I’ve already unfollowed one of them. I’ve created a list . . . → Read More: Tweet

We’re back, and better than ever in “We’re back, and better than ever!”

I know you didn’t notice, but I did. This site was down for about 20 hours due to a glitch that showed I had overspent my bandwidth allocation. I hadn’t, but that didn’t stop them from taking my site down.

Anyway… we’re back now.

And we are, in fact, better than ever! I’ve joined the mere thousands upon thousands of sites listed on iTunes!

Yes, that’s right, you can now find the TIDBABSH podcast on . . . → Read More: We’re back, and better than ever in “We’re back, and better than ever!”

TIDBABSH the second, part the first

Last month’s podcast was such a great success that I decided to do another one.

When I say it was a great success, I mean that it was successfully uploaded and at least three people were able to download and listen to it. I make no statements about the actual quality of the content (though those 3 people who admit to hearing it seemed to enjoy it (which reminds me, your payments will be sent . . . → Read More: TIDBABSH the second, part the first

Grand opening…

… and then nothing but disappointment. That pretty much describes this podcast. Really there is some interesting stuff discussed somewhere in there, but to get to it, you have to listen to me talking. Sorry about that, but it is the way of things.

On the upside, you do get to hear my wife talking about this stuff as well, so you got that going for you. Which is nice.

Of course throughout the entire . . . → Read More: Grand opening…

Peer into the mists of the future – 7 day challenge

This is it, the final day of the 7 day challenge! Today’s topic is: Share hints or details of what I intend to write about in the future.

Well, let’s peer into my crystal ball and see what fate awaits us…

Anybody know how to turn this thing on? All I’m seeing is my reflection.

Wait, wait… I’m getting something… it looks like… yeah, it’s… oh, crap it’s just re-runs of “What’s Happening Now?!”

I knew I . . . → Read More: Peer into the mists of the future – 7 day challenge

Identity: 7 day challenge

I’ve felt like I’ve been neglecting this blog lately, and wanted to get focused on it again. As it happens, I ran across the 7 day Challenge from Andrew Emmett‘s blog (via Lee’s entry), which seems like a good idea to get me started again.

The idea is to write 300 to 400 words about each of the following questions over the next week:

What the purpose of my website is, who I am and . . . → Read More: Identity: 7 day challenge

5th Blogiversary

Well, I had planned on another retrospective post to celebrate 5 years of typing random things into this blog, but the day passed a few days ago and it doesn’t look like I’ll have time to do it any time soon. Between back issues that have kept me away from anything but short bursts at the keyboard outside of work, and the pressures of trying to deal with the pre-holiday rush of work and other . . . → Read More: 5th Blogiversary
