The year Comcast stole Christmas

Okay, that’s a bit extreme, but sometimes it felt like Comcast stole my vacation, at least. This is also the story of my absence from this blog over the last week or so.

I save up most of my vacation time all year so I can use it for the week leading up to and following Christmas. This year, that meant taking off starting on 12/19.  So on 12/17-18 I was trying to get everything . . . → Read More: The year Comcast stole Christmas

The Atahualpa Whallop

I’m looking to start a new blogging project online. Hopefully it’ll come together soon. I’m just in the planning stages now, but one of the things I’m considering is what the blog will look like. In tooling around the available themes for WordPress, I came across one that leapt out at me and started jumping up and down on my chest, slapping my face, shouting “Look at me! LOOK AT ME!!!”

The first thing that . . . → Read More: The Atahualpa Whallop

What’s in YOUR browser?

My wife can’t figure out what I do online for hours at a time. I can’t blame her for being confused. Sometimes I don’t even know how so much time can go by before I get out of this chair and do something besides attempt to contract cancer from my monitor.

I thought it might be interesting to take a look at what I’ve got open in my browser right now and see if that . . . → Read More: What’s in YOUR browser?

Statistics and Ego Stroking

This post is all about me feeling better about myself and bragging a little. If you can’t handle that, well, sorry. I promise the next post will get back to the usual insightful reporting you’ve come to expect. Not on this site, of course, but I guarantee that somebody is writing something insightful somewhere on the Internet in the next few seconds. The odds are with me on that. Of course the odds are against . . . → Read More: Statistics and Ego Stroking

Testing the new feed

Okay, supposedly everything is migrated.

If you don’t get notified of this post, let me know…

Migrating feeds

Hey… just a quick note to anyone following this blog in a feedreader or email that if you don’t get any more posts from me by Tuesday, you might want to check back and resubscribe. I just started the migration progress from Feedburner to Google, and THEN started seeing reports of people having problems with that.

I should have checked it out first.

If you see a test message from me later, you’re all set.

Coming Soon: Tuesday TubeWatch

I’m gonna try starting a recurring series here at Caddickisms. Every Tuesday I’ll post a video for your enjoyment and/or edification. In other words, I’m gonna embed a video here that I like for one reason or another, and sometimes I’ll include 5-syllable words in the post to make me feel smarter. The video could be long, or it could be short. It might be fun, exciting, educational, full of meaning, or it might be . . . → Read More: Coming Soon: Tuesday TubeWatch

Your opinion: new theme?

I’m trying out a new theme. There are definitely pieces of it I really like, but it’s a radical change from what I’m used to. The biggest thing that might keep me from using it is that it’s a fixed width (size doesn’t change with your browser size). There are a couple other things that I’m not sure about, but generally I think it’s pretty clean and has potential.

I figured I’d check in with . . . → Read More: Your opinion: new theme?

Quick overview for new visitors

Today a guest post I wrote was published on the personal finance blog Gather Little by Little. Thanks to Glblguy for putting it up!

I figured a couple people might wander over here from GLBL, so it seemed like a good time to welcome all new visitors and provide a quick overview of this site.

I post here about a wide variety of things, but tend to focus on a couple areas more often than . . . → Read More: Quick overview for new visitors

New theme

I thought I’d give the site a new look, so I went searching for a new theme. I’m not entirely sold on this one yet, but I’m giving it a shot. There are some tweaks I definitely want to make, but it seems like a pretty decent theme. I’ve made a couple changes already.

If anyone has any thoughts they want to share, I’m all ears.
