By Jeff, on September 7th, 2009 The fall TV season is upon us. Are there any shows out there worthy of watching this year? Any guilty pleasures you’ve just gotta have? Anything that just drains the life out of you but you used to love it and can’t give it up?
I used to watch much more television than I do now. I watched sit-coms, cartoons, dramas… anything but reality TV. Now I’m even avoiding shows that I would probably like . . . → Read More: Flashing Forward to Fall TV
By Jeff, on July 21st, 2009 On the heels of the success of Torchwood: Children of Earth, the following clip has been released for the next Doctor Who special:
The companion here is Adelaide, played by Lindsay Duncan. The notes on her is that she is the very strong-minded head of Mars Base, and is not too happy about the Doctor’s interference.
This special is set to air in November. My guess would be around Thanksgiving, but as that’s not . . . → Read More: The Doctor is all wet… on Mars – Tuesday TubeWatch
By Jeff, on July 7th, 2009 I knew that I knew it from somewhere. It sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it. Now I know. The Olympics stole their theme song from the opening credits of one of my favorite too-quickly-cancelled shows.
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. had much in common with another favorite western of mine, Wild, Wild West (not to be confused with the unfortunate movie reboot version). Bruce Campbell brought his trademark snarkiness to Brisco and . . . → Read More: What do Bruce Campbell and the Olympics have in common? – Tuesday TubeWatch
By Jeff, on June 18th, 2009 Okay, I’ve been remiss in getting the Doctor Who news out lately. ‘Cause I know you all depend on me alone to let you know what’s going on with that show. I mean, seriously, where else would you go? BBC? Any of the completely sci-fi focused blogs out there that cover this stuff by the minute? psshh… that’d be crazy.
Anyway… here’s what’s come across my radar.
First, a minor point: when the new season . . . → Read More: Doctor Who/Torchwood news
By Jeff, on May 26th, 2009 I’ve posted before about the Green Lantern movie(s) in the works. No cast has been announced, no real information has come to my attention at all about the live action movie, other than it’s still on the books. However, some fan put together a pretty good trailer for what he’d like to see, using Nathan Fillion as the lead character, Hal Jordan. And you know what… it looks pretty good:

By Jeff, on March 24th, 2009 It’s over.
For four years of my life (which, oddly enough, took six years), I’ve been watching Battlestar Galactica weekly. This redesigned joy from my childhood became an engaging, exciting, and dramatic story in my adulthood. As with any other TV show, there are excellent episodes and episodes that fell flat. A series finale, and the lead-in stories, must meet the highest standard, in my opinion – especially in an “arc” show (i.e., one that . . . → Read More: Review: Battlestar Galactica finale
By Jeff, on March 5th, 2009 Here are a few Science Fiction/Fantasy tidbits I picked up on the smoke-signal network recently.
Like a ship wandering through the seas of Hollywood, it looked like Narnia sequel The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was going to be lost as Disney debated dropping the property after The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Prince Caspian didn’t do quite as well as they’d hoped. Well, apparently they’ve been steered to the correct port, because . . . → Read More: Sci-fi news roundup
By Jeff, on February 6th, 2009 Well, here we are with more sci-fi news. This time it’ll be a mix of things old and new. Strap on your propeller hat and hang on, ’cause here we go…
Spider-Man 4 is apparently going to shoot in 2010 for a 2011 release. This is information gleaned from an interview with J.K. Simmons, who plays J. Jonah Jameson in the films. Sam Raimi is on-board as director and Tobey McGuire is set to reprise . . . → Read More: Sci-fi rumors and news catch up
By Jeff, on January 16th, 2009 Battlestar Galactica is returning for the second half of its fourth and final season tonight (NOTE for those recording… the first new episode is extended and will go about 4 minutes over the hour). Just 10 episodes stand between us and the final fate of Humans and Cylons—even fewer than that before we find out the identity of the fifth Cylon. If you’ve forgotten what’s happened to this point (or for some crazy reason you’re . . . → Read More: Battlestar blitz – be prepared
By Jeff, on December 19th, 2008 To get us through the winter repeats, some shows are giving us webisodes. That includes Battlestar Galactica and Heroes.
In both cases, the short series are meant to provide a lead-in to the new episodes, now still a month away.
Heroes picks up during the final moments of the “Villains” finale and focuses on one of the recruits for the injection program:
Battlestar Galactica‘s offering seems to be following Felix Gaeta on a somewhat . . . → Read More: Webisodes and commercials
