Star Wars Conundrum: Original Trilogy Reflection

Maybe I should have called this series of posts “Force Fed”.

While that’s not exactly the truth about how it went down, that title does reflect a bit of how I feel now that we’ve completed watching Return of the Jedi, and thus the original trilogy.

I definitely didn’t force my kids to watch these movies. They’ve been asking (and at times whining) to see them. I do think that I didn’t hold out as . . . → Read More: Star Wars Conundrum: Original Trilogy Reflection

Star Wars Conundrum: Sorted

I wrote before about the problem I have with showing my daughters the Star Wars series (well, some of them). It’s difficult to decide what order to show them which versions of the films, and how quickly.

I think I’ve got it figured out.

We’ve now seen A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back a couple of times. There is some question in their minds as to whether Vader was being truthful when he said . . . → Read More: Star Wars Conundrum: Sorted

The Star Wars Conundrum

I’ve got a problem. There are multiple layers to this thing. And it’s all George Lucas’ fault.

Well, maybe I have some part to play in it as well. But it’s mostly Lucas.

See, I have two young kids. And I want to show them Star Wars. That’s my contribution to this. There are parts of this series that are just too mature for my kids at this age. I accept that, and recognize that . . . → Read More: The Star Wars Conundrum

Star Wars… they did it again!

Well, the 15,000th version of Star Wars is coming out on Blu-ray soon.

I’ll give Lucas a lot of credit. The man is a genius at marketing. He must have a huge storehouse of stuff that he can release for each new version of the movies he puts out.

This time the thing that is getting me to consider buying the Blu-ray is this deleted scenes trailer:

I foolishly thought that the DVD releases . . . → Read More: Star Wars… they did it again!

Star Wars: The Old Republic – cinematics

This is the kind of stuff that keeps sucking me back into the world of Star Wars gaming. I LOVE this stuff.

I have no idea how the actual game experience will be for “The Old Republic” – all I know is that these cinematics look Awesome, with a capital “AWE”. There are three now, that I’m aware of. “Deceived”, “Hope”, and “Return”.

Here’s everything I know about the story these trailers introduce:

Grand opening…

… and then nothing but disappointment. That pretty much describes this podcast. Really there is some interesting stuff discussed somewhere in there, but to get to it, you have to listen to me talking. Sorry about that, but it is the way of things.

On the upside, you do get to hear my wife talking about this stuff as well, so you got that going for you. Which is nice.

Of course throughout the entire . . . → Read More: Grand opening…

How geeky are you, really? – 7 day challenge

In the 7 day challenge, today’s topic is: Answer one question I think people visiting my blog may have.

Let’s be honest: I have no idea what question you guys/gals may have. Y’all need to speak up more for me to discern that.

So that leaves me with a choice – I can come up with some completely self-serving question like “what’s the best post you’ve written?” or I can make up something that allows . . . → Read More: How geeky are you, really? – 7 day challenge

Best silent movie EVER!

FINALLY, I get to wield a real lightsaber!

Yep. This is exactly how Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back would have gone if I was in it.

Autographs are $2. I gotta cover my costs.

Hearing the words “That’s how I roll, baby” coming out of my Dad’s mouth makes the time I spent looking for pictures of everyone facing the camera well worth it.

(Go make your own.)

The best cake I’ve ever seen

I’m not even exaggerating. This blows my mind. There are certainly cakes that are unbelievably beautiful (and this is not one of them), but the level of detail on this cake, and the obvious love put into it, is staggering!

That it has a sci-fi theme is just, well… icing on the cake.

There's really too much to take in here

You need to go to the creator’s site and check out the detail . . . → Read More: The best cake I’ve ever seen
