FINALLY, I get to wield a real lightsaber!

Yep. This is exactly how Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back would have gone if I was in it.

Autographs are $2. I gotta cover my costs.

Hearing the words “That’s how I roll, baby” coming out of my Dad’s mouth makes the time I spent looking for pictures of everyone facing the camera well worth it.

(Go make your own.)

The best cake I’ve ever seen

I’m not even exaggerating. This blows my mind. There are certainly cakes that are unbelievably beautiful (and this is not one of them), but the level of detail on this cake, and the obvious love put into it, is staggering!

That it has a sci-fi theme is just, well… icing on the cake.

There's really too much to take in here

You need to go to the creator’s site and check out the detail . . . → Read More: The best cake I’ve ever seen

Star Wars, like you’ve never seen it before

I mentioned this a while back, but this guy decided to use the power of the internet to break Star Wars up into 15 second segments and have people submit their versions of those segments. Then his plan is to put those segments back together into one “cohesive” movie.

Apparently he’s pretty far along with it, and now we have a trailer!

Why Jar-Jar is the most hated character in Star Wars

The little clip shows exactly why Jar-Jar (and to some extent, the entire Phantom Menace film) is so unliked by so many. And it’s hilarious.

Skip straight to the 1:00 mark to start. You’re not missing anything but the standard film.

Star Wars, starring Benny Hill as Jar-Jar… that’s just inspired. That it works so well is proof that Lucas had lost his mind when he wrote that character.

Premiere weeks 2009, part 2 – SGU and Clone Wars

Before jumping into the new stuff, just a quick note on the second episodes of shows that started last week…

Heroes – an improvement. I both enjoyed and was annoyed by the Sylar/Parkman bit. It was obvious, but fun and frustrating to watch. FlashForward – again, an improvement. I like the expansion of the ‘conspiracy’ and that they’re not holding back on moving forward with the investigation. Makes it feel like it will be a . . . → Read More: Premiere weeks 2009, part 2 – SGU and Clone Wars

Flashing Forward to Fall TV

The fall TV season is upon us. Are there any shows out there worthy of watching this year? Any guilty pleasures you’ve just gotta have? Anything that just drains the life out of you but you used to love it and can’t give it up?

I used to watch much more television than I do now. I watched sit-coms, cartoons, dramas… anything but reality TV. Now I’m even avoiding shows that I would probably like . . . → Read More: Flashing Forward to Fall TV

Grab your 15 seconds of fame!

We’ve all wanted to take part in a big-budget movie, right? Sure we have. And now you have the opportunity to do just that! Sort of.

The movie is Star Wars. You know… Episode IV… A New Hope… the original… Star Wars. Yeah, that’s right. You get to be in Star Wars. Pretty cool, huh!?

Here’s the catch – you have to choose one 15 segment, and you have to film it yourself.

If only the Star Wars films were like this…

This is quite simply one of the best Star Wars trailers I’ve seen.

The problem is that it’s the cinematics associated with the game, and no in-game footage, so the actual game experience will be much different. But that’s also the cool thing about this… it’s high-resolution and looks awesome, because they aren’t dropping down to game-play resolution.

I don’t know a whole lot about the Old Republic time period, other than what I know . . . → Read More: If only the Star Wars films were like this…

Tuesday TubeWatch: Death Star Trek Wars

That is some seriously well-integrated CGI. I love it.

The Stormtrooper’s “Boo-ya” at the end kills me.

To be a total geek, here, I gotta say that a beam meant to take out a planet would not stop at taking out one ship, though. And what’s the Enterprise doing just sitting there? Fishing? Totally unrealistic.

Tuesday TubeWatch: MacGyvering Star Wars

[Note: recent events in my life have conspired to prevent me from putting together the vote scheduled for this week. I'll get back to it. It's not like you all seem to be clamoring for it anyway... but this does give you the chance to continue nominating entries.]

I simply can’t watch this enough times. I have no idea what’s wrong with me, but I love this. What warped genius got the idea to recreate . . . → Read More: Tuesday TubeWatch: MacGyvering Star Wars
