Telling Time – 7 day challenge

In the 7 day challenge, today’s topic is: Embed a legal youtube clip that I either found today or created myself. Then tell everyone about the clip and related information.

I considered a bunch of different options for today’s post. One was a video of some birds eating berries in the snow in my backyard, but they flew away by the time I got the camera. Probably for the best, though. It would have looked nice, . . . → Read More: Telling Time – 7 day challenge

Review: The Sing-Off

To steal a phrase from one of the judges, this show is “off the hook!”

I don’t like a lot of the “talent competitions” that are on TV. American Idol is little more than a chance to alternately berate people or contribute to creating a narcissistic personality. Yes, some of those people are very talented, but the show is really more about Simon Cowell and the other judges. America’s Got Talent I can tolerate a . . . → Read More: Review: The Sing-Off

Thanksgiving – Epic version

Thanksgiving is a US holiday where we purposely focus on being thankful for our lives, and the people and things in them. Families get together and enjoy each others company, and many have some different great traditions about going around the table and each saying something they are thankful for, or presenting some sort of story illustrating thankfulness, or just being thankful to be with each other. But a constant at every table is food . . . → Read More: Thanksgiving – Epic version

Ferguson’s Doctor Who show

Craig Ferguson’s Late Late show did a Doctor Who themed episode on Tuesday night.

Craig cracks me up. And he’s a true Doctor Who fan, too.

Here’s the “Cold Opening” and monologue:

The Doctor Who themed Twitter and Email segment:

And finally the interview with the newest Doctor, Matt Smith.

And the closing segment:

Craig is weird enough that there may not ever have been a dance number… but I kind . . . → Read More: Ferguson’s Doctor Who show

Clean the fan, with Ultraman

Wow! I’m geeking out! This guy managed to mix computer laptop maintenance and an Ultraman-like tribute into a catchy, funny song! He even got a Queen tribute in!

Hats off to that dude. Way to go.

I wonder if he ever got that laptop back together.

Found on Facebook

Facebook is a place where absolutely nothing of importance happens. But you do get to see some funny, or at least interesting, posts from time to time. Here are some of the better ones I’ve seen recently:

(That was actually from fellow Coalition of Awesomeness member Dan’s blog, but I saw it through a post on Facebook, so it counts.)

OK GO has some great videos. Easily some of the most inventive . . . → Read More: Found on Facebook

Throwing spaghetti on the wall

This post is going to be like throwing spaghetti on the wall: I’m just gonna toss a lot of stuff up here and see what sticks. It worked for Oscar Madison (okay, that was linguini – work with me).

Movie prices

According to Slice-of-Sci-Fi…

The weekend closed out the books for the summer season and while ticket sales were up to $4.35 billion, the highest total ever for a summer season, overall attendance was down. Attendance this . . . → Read More: Throwing spaghetti on the wall

Percussionists: Object lesson for today

Today we’re having an installation of “What to do, What not to do” for percussionists.

What to do

Back in college I had the privilege of seeing a percussion group called Nexus perform. It was one of two moments in those years that I just had this goofy grin stuck on my face because the awesomeness just blew me away (the other was when the drummer from the Navy Jazz Band did his drum solo… . . . → Read More: Percussionists: Object lesson for today

Spider-man dances (and so does The Flash)

No one has written a super-hero theme song yet that beats the one from the 60s Spider-man cartoon. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some great themes written, but Spider-man’s is the swinging-est.

Over the years, a few versions have been recorded, but this is probably my favorite update. And the dancing is actually pretty cool, too. I think these guys do a great job.

Then there’s this… yeah, the dancing sucks, but . . . → Read More: Spider-man dances (and so does The Flash)
