Ah, Pam, I’m so proud of you for having the courage to publish this. I know the grief runs deeper because you grieve not only for that specific precious little one, but also for the death of your dreams of having another child. I believe with you that your grief is right and important, but also that your sovereign, tender God won’t leave you in that place of grief forever. I will pray for joy restored for you. Hey, Lori! We’re no longer at that address. I’ll send you a message on facebook with our current address.

We’re not technically doing classic homeschool. We’re doing a cyber/charter school. We like it, but it’s intense. I have *not* read Sherlock to the girls yet. That’ll come, I’m sure, but they’re not yet up to the challenge. I have read The Hobbit to them. But it required lots of paraphrasing. I read them the whole thing but had to explain most of it to them again, paragraph by paragraph. It was time-intensive, but Allyson, in particular, thought it was worth it.

I was always glad to have you back at school when you all returned from the field! Sometimes it doesn’t seem that long ago. Other times it seems like another lifetime.

Pam, when you get a chance, please read the book “Heaven is For Real” by Todd Burpo. Amazing book! And I think you’ll find healing in its pages. I am reading the devotional book now and the chapter this morning was exactly that….parents who have lost children to miscarriage. I read the original book a few months ago, I highly recommend it.

sorry for your loss….it is not much different for men either….i felt the loss very acutely and still do 15 years later…i also lost my mom when i was in my 20′s….my comfort comes from knowing that i will one day meet my child and that maybe God took my mother so young so that the child we lost would have a grandmother too….

Thank you for sharing that, Pam. Loss of a pregnancy can prolong grief for some people. The due date can be a painful day and may cause the griever to cycle back into mourning. Keeping a journal can help with grief. Putting the cries of your heart down on paper, writing out scripture, hymns, poems and personal prayers as well as God’s promises & daily blessings can be a tool that you read and re-read as you continue to process the grief. Moving toward your pain and letting God heal that pain is the only route to travel. You will be healed! You may be a different person. This life and the things that God allows, is our schooling in “becoming more like Jesus.”
I pray that you will begin to enjoy the moments of life the way you once did.
I’m glad that you are back! I needed to hear your words. It was a HUGE disappointment in a circumstance that interrupted my joy and my blogging over a year ago. Yes, I’ve been wondering where my excitement and zest for life has gone. Earlier this week I decided that I will study the Psalms once again and seek to delight in God’s Word and find that “rest” for my soul. The enemy is so cunning in how he finds ways to distract us from the blessings of our Savior.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul….

Pam…I am so sorry to hear about your loss!! I have been there, and completely sympathize with your feelings…it is a very lonely, long process. Your joy will return…I found that it took a good while for me. i did find it helpful to talk…it still hurt, but i think it helped with the healing process. know that you are not alone and your feelings are completely understood!! hugs!!!

Oh my dear cousin Pam. You have always been such a happy person. I found such humor in your blog and read it faithfully! You have such an amazing view on the world around you. Please continue to write for yourself. I hope with the spring weather finally here, your mood will be uplifted! It is sometimes hard to find the good in every day, but you will.

We all deal with loss in different ways. I am so sorry to hear about the baby. God has a plan. In the words of Twilla Paris – “Could it be that He is only waiting there to see, if I will learn to love the dreams, that He has dreamed for me…For now, listen to His voice.

I hope you find joy and healing soon! looking forward to our reunion this summer and seeing you!!!
